Week 10: Hallet Workshop

With the arrival of Stanley and Judy Hallet, this week, came their experience in photography and filmography.  The focus of this week was solely on capturing the mood, essence, and architecture of a particular space.  The workshop began with Stanley Hallet teaching us the fundamentals of successful photography, and examples from his on work. With groups of either two or three students, we were given a site to analyze, photograph, and make a short film.  Among the sites were: the Pantheon, Santa Maria in Trestevere, Campo De Fiori, and the Spanish Steps.  On Wednesday, we were introduced to Judy Hallet and the amazing work that she has completed.  Throughout the process Mr. and Mrs. Hallet were in studio aiding us;  from the song that we chose to the timing of our pictures in accordance with the music.  Overall we learned to look at spaces, and their usage differently than before.  We have learned to capture the essence of a space in a still frame, and how to weave multiple stillframes into one cohesive presentation.

Alongside Mr. and Mrs. Hallet, Provost Brennan also joined us in Rome this week.  We had the pleasure of sharing an evening with Dr. Brennan.
